Curriculum and Programs

 

MICA International Scholars follows a rigorous American public school curriculum that supports and challenges students for academic success and personal growth.

 

MICA’s primary curriculum emphasizes foundational skills across key disciplines, following the American system and aligning with CCSS for math and English, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science and social studies.

 

Core Subjects:

  • English: Follow CCSS with MyView Literacy to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Math: Follow the Math in Focus program, based on CCSS, to foster mathematical understanding through real-world applications and a problem-based approach.
  • Science: Follow the Elevate Science program, aligned with NGSS, to integrate S.T.E.M. skills and cover Life, Earth, and Physical Sciences.
  • Social Studies: Follow the Harcourt Social Studies program, aligned with the NCSS to connect historical and social concepts to the modern world.

MICA’s secondary curriculum offers a rigorous instructional program based on U.S. educational standards, including CCSS, NCSS, NGSS, and AP courses. Honors classes begin in grade 8, with AP courses available from grade 9.

MICA’s current campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-sized gym, art and music rooms, a library, and outdoor play areas. Our cafeteria offers an organic menu designed by a nutritionist to provide healthy meals for students and staff. Surrounded by a scenic mountain and lake backdrop, the campus is situated in a peaceful area with breathtaking views.

  • Must be eligible for an E-2 visa (citizenship from the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, or South Africa) or hold an F-visa (resident)

4. Hiring Period & Procedure

 

  • Application Review: We carefully assess all applications to identify candidates who meet the qualifications and align with our values.
  • Interview with Leadership: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with a member of the leadership team.
  • Follow-Up Meeting: After the interview, a follow-up meeting will be arranged to address any additional questions and provide further information on the next steps.

5. Teacher Training & Onboarding

Our school is conveniently located with easy access to Seoul, and the housing provided by MICA is near Migeum Station, which is just a 20-minute subway ride to Gangnam. Everything you need is within a 15-minute radius of the station, making it an incredibly convenient location for daily life.
