Job Description
Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of a AWA (Academic Workshop Advisor) for upcoming openings in the 2025-2028 school year!
The initial contract for this role begins on July 24th, 2025 and ends on August 14th, 2028. We will be starting interviews as we receive candidates either virtually, on GoogleMeet, with the School Principal and General Manager, or, preferably, in person. We will close the position once it is filled.

Responsibilities Overview
• Reports: Reporting progress & challenges of the AWA role to the Vice Principal for advisement
• Teaching: AWS (Academic Workshop & Skills) classes will be the Employee’s primary class line for students G6 - G8
• Communication: Switchboard A administrative contact for parents who may have questions about their student’s progress
• MAP Testing: Delineation of resultant data after each testing session
• AWS Orientations: Designing, preparing and delivering middle school-related and matriculation orientations for students
• JNHS - Junior National Honor Society
Requirements
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Education or degrees related to education
• Hold an F-4 or other F visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship, or Korean citizenship
• Apostilled Diploma, Criminal Background Check, and work-related documents
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in education at interational programs or other school settings
• 3 letters of recommendation - one must be your most recent/current employer
Working Conditions
• Student Age: Middle School
• Starting Date: July 24th, 2025
• Ending Date: August 14th, 2028
• Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:40 A.M. - 4:40 P.M. (-4:50 P.M. once a week for staff meetings)

Reports To: Vice Principal, Dean of Students, Counselor & Curriculum Coordinator
As the Middle School AWA, the Employee is an academic role model and leader for building character, skills, and abilities in the students assigned to their classes. By following the policies set in the School Handbook - student, staff and parent common policies - the AWA guides students to a positive path to success using the school’s systems fairly and evenly. Classes are the main means for conveying lessons, topics, and points of growth for the students which means that the MS AWA’s classroom is at times structured along the core of progressive academic skills and abilities, but also dynamic and studentcentered based on identified needs or values of healthy school life that may need to be reinforced.

Competitive and based on a salary scale contingent on years of experience, degrees, and certificates
