Job Description
Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of SEL Counselor for upcoming openings in the 2025-2028 school year!
The initial contract for this role begins on July 24th, 2025 and ends on August 2028. We will be starting interviews as we receive candidates either virtually, on GoogleMeet, with the School Principal and General Manager, or, preferably, in person. We will close the position once it is filled.

Responsibilities Overview
• Supervising student discipline throughout the school
• Participation in PTCs/Parent Meetings
• Supporting the SPAS Positive Behavior Program/SPAS Houses
• Aiding in new student intake
• Overseeing student attendance management
• Supervising school events and summer duties
• Lead planning for calendar student events and field trips
• Attend and participate in faculty and staff meetings
• Take part in PTCs (Parent-Teacher Conferences) and speak/discuss with parents regarding their children
• Attend official SPAS functions as outlined on the calendar
• Supervising the schools ASA program
Requirements
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Education or degrees related to education
• Hold an F-4 or other F visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship, or Korean citizenship
• Apostilled Diploma, Criminal Background Check, and work-related documents
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in education at interational programs or other school settings
• 3 letters of recommendation - one must be your most recent/current employer
Working Conditions
• Starting Date: July 24, 2025
• Ending Date: August 11, 2028
• Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:40 A.M. - 4:40 P.M. (-4:50 P.M. once a week for staff meetings)

SPAS is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and holistically-minded individual for this Counselor role. This is an SEL role, not an advisory role. For a candidate to be qualified to apply for this role, you must have:
• A degree in counseling, clinical psychology, or clinical counseling, etc.
• A certification in counseling, clinical counseling, or clinical psychology, etc.
• A professional record working with clients in a counseling setting
• A perfect standing with all of your previous employers involving confidentiality, counseling, and professionalism
Teaching experience will also be a large component to this role as the successful applicant will be assigned up to one class per grade level for G1-5. However, this role is for the whole school to start, and our candidates must consider the inclusion of counseling middle school students as well.
