Ivy Kids emphasizes cross-curricular learning to support bilingual development, creativity, and critical thinking.

Teaching Structure

All classes are conducted in English, with Native and Bilingual Korean teachers alternating instruction. Korean teachers provide classroom support and communicate with parents.

Lesson Planning

Teachers follow a set curriculum with pre-made lesson plans from Korean teachers. Teachers are given lesson plans a week prior and are expected to prepare for classes accordingly. Prep time is provided during work hours.

Our elementary program emphasizes conversational learning. Our program is divided into two distinct tracks to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

 

Elementary Regular Course: 7-11Y

  • For beginning English learners, they follow a 4-step learning roadmap, integrating i-Learning:
    • Starter – Builds basic phonics, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structures for simple conversations (English World).
    • Basic – Strengthens reading comprehension while developing balanced language skills (English Playground).
    • Intermediate – Enhances presentation and self-expression while refining English proficiency (English Carnival).
    • Advanced – Develops strong reading comprehension, essay writing, debate skills, and advanced critical thinking (English Odyssey).

 

Ivy Master GELE (Gifted Elementary): 8-11Y

  • For graduates of English kindergartens and returnee (overseas) students  
  • Uses American textbooks covering language, grammar, writing, TOEFL, and TEPS.
  • Integrates materials from CNN, Time Magazine, and Read & Debate to enhance real-world learning.
  • Core subjects: Language, A.C.C. (American Curriculum Course), Grammar, Writing, and Science.

YBM Prime is a comprehensive exam preparation program designed for upper elementary (UE)  to middle school (MS) students, covering school exams, standardized tests, and college entrance exams with 7 levels.* 

 

  • UE  –  MS1: Listening and speaking skills based on EFL learning.
  • MS1 – MS2: Integrates EFL-based subject learning with performance assessments.
  • MS2-MS3: Enhances speaking and writing skills for school exams and assessments.
  • MS3-HS1: Provides comprehensive preparation for high school English exams.
  • HS1-HS2: Grammar and reading comprehension for college entrance exams.
  • College Entrance Exam Intensive Course: Focuses on high-difficulty exam questions and test-taking strategies.
  • Elite Track: Prepares for TEPS, TOEFL, CSAT special admissions, and English interviews.

  • Assignment workload varies by grade level, and teachers are responsible for assigning, assessing, and grading student tasks, providing feedback, and tracking progress through both online and offline review activities, including extensive reading programs and comprehension-based assignments.

Weekly Review & mark weekly listening tests, and journal writings. 
Monthly Grade and provide feedback on monthly exams, essays, and presentations.

Grade SR (iPad, test reading level throgh Renaissance Learning)  and paper tests to prepare for TOEFL (listening, reading, vocab, grammar, and writing)

Non-teaching Duties:

  • Supervise students during mealtimes (lunch, snack time)
  • Assist students with bathroom breaks (kindergarten, if needed)
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences (twice in a year)
  • Participate in field trips and school events
  • Bus loading and send-off 

 

 
 Grading & Reporting:
  • Teachers are expected to grade student assignments, provide feedback, and track progress.

Weekly Record student participation, behavior, and performance in progress logs (less than 5 sentences in length.

Compile formal progress reports detailing comprehensive student achievement in key language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).  Each student report is expected to be within 1-3 pages in length. These reports are reviewed by our team before being shared with parents. 

Non-teaching Duties:

    • Attend bi-annual teacher workshops
