Welcome to RISE Gangnam!

Here at RISE Gangnam, we bring learning to life with our interactive curriculum that’s all about fun, exploration, and creativity!  As the first campus directly operated by RISE headquarters after the establishment of RISE Korea, we are proud to continue our long legacy as the premier RISE campus. Since 2024, we have revamped our curriculum to meet the academic rigour of the Gangnam area, without foregoing the core focus on immersive English learning.

Our Curriculum and Programs

Our programs follow an American curriculum and focus on immersive learning for our students to grow in their English skills, thinking abilities, and social-emotional development.  We offer special homework classes to provide additional personalized support for our students.

Even with a strong academic focus, we make sure our students stay active and have fun! From weekly P.E. classes to a monthly bounce playground, there’s always something for our students to look forward to.

Speaking is at the heart of our RISE K program. For our youngest learners, we focus on phonics and speaking through Show & Tell. At age 6, we build presentation and early debate skills. At 7, we shift toward essays and test preparation as they prepare to enter elementary school.

Textbooks & Resources:

  • We use Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Journeys, along with our in-house RISE WISE workbooks developed by our R&D team.

Blended Learning: RISE-On

  • We use the RISE-On e-learning platform to support students in reviewing content and testing their skills with AI-powered tools.

Teaching Structure Native teachers are expected to lead instruction with the support of a Korean bilingual teaching assistant who assists with behavior management and translation.  Assistants also handle communication with parents and administrative tasks.
Lesson Planning Teachers follow a set curriculum with pre-made lesson plans. Teachers are given lesson plans a week prior and are expected to prepare for classes.
In our elementary Quest for Self-Discovery (QSD) program, we focus on developing the 4Cs—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creative thinking through storytelling, group presentations, and story writing.

Foundation Program (FP): For beginners learning the basics of English.

Exploration Program (EP): For RISE K graduates, follows the American curriculum.

Values Program (VP): Focus on American literature.

Our Facilities

Our campus is housed in a standalone five-storey building, with each kindergarten age group (ages 5–7) having its own designated floor. Our first floor welcomes all learners with an extensive library, and the rooftop field is a favorite spot for special classes and events.  For our 5-year-old students, the second floor features a fun playroom and a versatile gym/auditorium space. Every classroom is equipped with interactive smartboards to keep learning engaging and dynamic.

Employment

Work Environment & Teacher Expectations

We believe that real learning comes from great teachers.  We welcome native English teachers of all backgrounds, and we believe in the power of a strong teaching community—one that supports innovation, teamwork, and passion.  New teachers complete a day of online training followed by on-campus training, which consists of teaching methodologies, classroom management, and cultural sensitivity.

Reasons to Work at RISE Gangnam

  • Supervision and Administrative Support from Headquarters Office: As the first directly operated campus, the RISE headquarters team prioritizes the welfare of all our teachers, providing comprehensive guidance and support through the hiring, visa, training, and onboarding process.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum and Materials: Our teachers follow a guided curriculum with clear objectives, structured activities, and lesson plans designed by our R&D team.
  • Maintain a Work-Life Balance: We ensure a healthy work/life balance with structured working hours and breaks.
  • Spacious, Modern Teaching Facility: Our campus is newly renovated, with dedicated floors for each age level, ensuring that there are specialized spaces for our students to move, learn, and grow.

Key Considerations

  • Our campus is just outside the densely populated, academy-heavy zones of Gangnam, but still located in a dynamic area, ideal for those who want to work in a big city. Nearby, there is Dogok Park, which offers a beautiful respite from the city center.
  • While our curriculum maintains an academic focus, we encourage our teachers to bring energy and enthusiasm to the classroom to ensure English learning remains fun.

Hiring Period and Procedure

Interested in teaching with us? We hire for July/August and also accept applications throughout the year.

Our RISE HQ handles hiring, and David Moon (Head of R&D and Recruiting) is your main point of contact. After an application review, you’ll have a filmed interview that gets shared with us.
