ESL Homeroom Teachers Wanted at POLY Daejeon
Since the 1990s, our school has fostered students’ growth in English language development with a proven learning curriculum incorporating North American curriculum standards. We strive to develop students into lifelong learners and contributing members of a changing world. We encourage our students to become critical thinkers and problem-solvers and to value their bilingual skills. We are looking for passionate and committed teachers who will continue this tradition. 1. Responsibilities Overview • Teach and manage Early Childhood (5-7 year-old Kindergarteners) and Elementary students (Grades 1-4) • Prepare for the class using teaching materials provided by our campus • Communicate with school managers regarding students’ classroom behavior and academic progress • Grade and edit students’ works (homework, essays, vocabulary quizzes, etc…) • Attendance of a Saturday teacher-training Workshop held twice a year (all campuses in Korea) 2. Requirements • Native English Speaker • Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Education or English Literature/Linguistics major is prefferd) • Holds or is eligible for the E-2 visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship • F-visa holders • Apostilled Diploma and Criminal Background Check • Must be physically and mentally healthy. • TEFL or TESOL Certificate preferred • More than 1 year of experience preferred • Must have passion for education and love for children 3. Working Conditions • Working Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. / Tuesday, Thursday, 9:00 A.M. - 6:40 P.M. • Curriculum: North American curriculum and teacher resources available • Student Type: Kindergarten & Elementary School Students (5 to 11 years old). Most students have advanced level of English. • Class Size: Maximum 12 Students • Class Length: 40 minutes per class • Lunch Time: 70 minutes • Training/Probation Period: Training provided (Paid. 1-2 weeks). Up to 2 weeks of probation period. Spring & fall workshops. • Special Events: Need to attend workshops and parent events maximum 4 times a year • Teachers: 25 Native Teachers / 33 Korean Teachers / 35 Staff (including management). There are 8 administrators and Korean teachers that work to support the native teachers.
