Welcome to GIA Micro Lab.
 

We are a private K-12 school located in Seoul, Korea. Our mission is to offer an outstanding education to Korean and international students.
 
At GIA, we provide personalized, well-rounded, education for all students from Pre-K to 12th grade based on their learning styles. Based on North American curriculum, our programs help prepare students to enter universities abroad. 
 
Philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and discipleship are the foundation of our educational programs, and we strive to implement new learning methods and ideas to help students learn more effectively. Our Programs

Our programs from Kindergarten to High school students include learning about the world through a variety of interactive activities. Classes cover the basics of math, science, history, and art through immersion.
Elective classes cover economics, 3-D design, art, Bible, physical education, music, coding, and SAT and AP test prep.

 


Course description for Elementary and Middle School English Programs:

1. Phonics Grade Level: Grade 1
Primary Resources: Phonics & English Student Worktext (3rd ed.), BJU Press
Units of Study: God’s Wonderful Creation; Creatures Great & Small; Special Deeds & Inventions; Adventrues; Unit 5: Making Melody; Treasures
Curriculum Based Assessments: N/A
Standardized Assessments: N/A
Description: The Course uses exciting theme lessons to combine phonics, reading, listening, comprehension, creative writing, and grammar. The six units cover short and long vowels, single consonant blends, and diagraphs, rinfluenced vowels, special vowel sounds, silent consonants, suffixes, and syllable division. Phonics patterns are also taught using word families. Phonics characters make phonics generalizations fun and memorable. platform mainly used for homework.
 

2. ELA I (Reading)
Grade Level: Grade 1 – Grade 6
Primary Resources: Common Core Standards; Learning A to Z E-learning Platform
Units of Study: Leveled Reading Books/Lessons
Curriculum Based Assessments: Reading & Comprehenstion Assessments
Standardized Assessments: Renaissance Education; Accelerated Reading Assessments
Description: The Course uses the Learning A to Z E-learning Platform, which is also aligned with CCSI curriculum for ELA. The Program delivers research-based leveled reading resources at developmentally appropriate levels for every K-5 learning environment. The product contains a wealth of leveled materials and tools that make it easy to provide the personalized instruction each student needs.
 

3. ELA II (Grammar)
Grade Level: Grade 1 – Grade 8
Primary Resources: Grammar for Schools; Cambridge, Learning A to Z E-learning Platform,
Units of Study: Grammar, Reading/Comprehension, Speaking, Listening, Writing
Curriculum Based Assessments: Unit Tests
Standardized Assessments: TOEFL Primary, TOEFL Junior, TOEFL IBT
Description: The Course uses various ways to improve fluency levels of students who are leaning English as a second language. The formal skills of writing, reading, vocabulary and grammar will progress, along the lines of everyday situations, interesting contexts, and a variety of material. Newly-arrived learners as well as those students 31 who need more classroom focus, are welcome to participate, so that they may increase their participation in the English-speaking world and enjoy more success.
 

4. ELA III (Vocabulary)
Grade Level: Grade 1 – Grade 8
Primary Resources: 4000 Essential Vocabulary, Compass Publishing Units of Study: Each unit has following sections: Introducing the Words; Definitions; Match the Meaning; Synonyms; Antonyms; Completing the Sentence; Word Associations; Word Study; Shades of Meaning
Curriculum Based Assessments: Weekly Vocabulary Quiz
Standardized Assessments: N/A
Description: The Course uses the 4000 Essential Vocabulary Series by Compass Publishing. In the 18 units included in each level-books, students will read a passage that contains the unit words. Then they will learn their definitions, pronunciations, parts of speech, and how they used in sentences. They will also find synonyms and antonyms for the words.

Role and Responsibilities You will be a homeroom teacher for our Kindergarten students. Follow the premade curriculum, but also use your creativity and imagination to make the classes more fun and enjoyable for the students.
