Job Description
Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is a growing K-12 school that is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

We believe that parents are essential partners in the educational process and must be properly involved and accountable for the achievement and behavior of their children. Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking a qualified and experienced administrator to fill the role of Principal for the upcoming SPAS Ansan Campus. This candidate will work with our Head of School, General Manager and School Principal to plan, organize, and implement the steps necessary to open the upcoming Ansan Campus.
Role Phase 1:
The initial phase of this role will be centered around logistics and foundational planning work from our Bundang campus office. Working alongside the Head of School, General Manager, and School Principal; as construction completes at the Ansan location, the Ansan Principal will be required to learn the SPAS systems, attend conferences, and plan a fully implementable program for the 2025-2026 school year.
Role Phase 2:
A second phase will follow which will involve hiring in a team of administrative support and teachers based on a hiring plan and scaffold created by the SPAS Leadership Team
Role Phase 3:
Supervision of the installments and implementation of fixtures, electronics, furniture, and finishings of the school on site as details are completed
Role Phase 4:
Supervision of the 2025 summer camp on site and initiation of the 2025-2026 school year, the premier year, of the Ansan campus as a long-term administrator
A strong Principal candidate will be detailed oriented, have both long-range and short-range planning abilities, excellent public speaking skills, familiarity with structures needed for administrative and educational support in mid-sized schools, and have experience with new projects and new initiatives in previous roles. SPAS will begin interviews as we receive candidates for interviews in-person for candidates located in South Korea. We will interview candidates aboard who have excellent potential to fill this role. We will close the position once it is filled. Fundamental skills for this role include:
Teacher Leadership & Mentorship
- Applicants with teaching experience are preferred
Scheduling Experience
- Designing, creating, and checking student and teacher schedules
In-depth, hands on experience with Online LMS
- SPAS will designate the school's LMS for implementation at Ansan
AP School/American-Based Curriculum/Standards Familiarity
- SPAS is a PreAP/AP school
Energy and Enthusiasm
- SPAS is looking for energetic candidates with previous experience in administration - candidates with no previous school operation experience will not be considered for this role
Data-Minded

Candidates who have utilized educational data in decision making are preferred (MAP/SR/AR/WIDA etc.)
Professional Degree

Requirements

Have a minimum of a master's degree from an accredited institution

Preferred Majors: School Administration, Education Administration, Education Leadership, Curriculum Design, Teaching and Learning, etc.

Hold an E7, F-4 or other F visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship or Korean citizenship

Apostilled Diploma and Criminal Background Check (if applicable)

Leadership Experience (ie. Dean of Students, Academic Coordinator, Academic Director, Vice Principal): More than 3-5 years
