Location Description
Busan is South Korea's second-most populous city after Seoul, with a population of over 3.4 million. The full metropolitan area has a population of approximately 8 million. The Nakdong is Korea's longest river and Busan's Haeundae Beach is also the country's largest.
Busan is a center for sports tournaments in Korea, having hosted the 2002 Asian Games and FIFA World Cup. It is home to the world's largest department store, the Shinsegae Centum City. Busan was added to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a "City of Film" in December 2014.
Gangseo-gu on the west side of Nakdong River in Busan. It has an area of 179.05 km², and a population of about 66,000. Gangseo-gu is the westernmost gu in Busan and it shares a border with Gimhae on its north-west side and Jinhae-gu, Changwon on its south-west side. Gimhae International Airport, Heungguk Temple, Myeongwol Temple, as well as the Eulsukdo bird sanctuary are located in Gangseo-gu.
