HLSI (Hansaengyeon Life Science Institute) is a science-education facility catering to elementary-age children. Our International Team is looking for a native-English speaker with a science background to start in mid-July. Please have your paperwork ready to mail to us to expedite the hiring process.
Location and Start Date
The hired teacher will be living in a school-provided and furnished dorm room close to Hyehwa Station in Seoul. Monthly bills are a fixed 40,000 KRW/month, covering electricity, water, gas, and wireless internet. The kitchen area is shared with one other foreigner, but a private bathroom is supplied.
Duties
We teach regular classes at our six schools on a daily basis. Foreign teachers are often required to travel by subway or bus to teach these classes. Some travel costs are reimbursable. We have more downtime between classes than most other schools (some days with only one or two classes, some with none), during which time we write and edit our class materials. We do teach classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to our regular classes, we also teach a special class in our Hongcheon Nature School, during which teachers will be required to stay at the camp for three days and two nights. We also host SEEK camp classes for overseas students, during which we teach special classes, but do not travel out of the city or stay overnight. These are much more like normal classes, just with different students.
We maintain themed science museums in each station. On occasion, teachers may be asked to lead English-language tours of these museums.
