JES Island Seoul Forest

Welcome to JES Island Seoul Forest!

  • English Education Through Play

At JES Island, based on the educational philosophy of 'Joyful Education Spirit,' the entire curriculum is well-integrated with both play-based and learning-based programs.

By breaking down the boundaries between 'life' and English education, JES implements a learning method that maximizes children's potential and positive motivation.

  • Cultural and Emotional Education

Through activities like museum visits and external emotional education programs, JES not only enhances children's emotional intelligence but also helps develop their creativity in a harmonious way.

In the reality of our country's education system, which often encourages ranking and competition, we focus on recognizing various possibilities and fostering an environment where children can help each other with their weaknesses.

Through consideration and cooperation, we aim to maximize both social skills and individual potential.

Additionally, through various outdoor activities and field trips, we help children develop emotional intelligence by allowing them to experience things with their bodies, rather than just memorizing with their minds.

Location Description

Seoul is a megacity, with just under 10 million inhabitants in the main city and 25 million in Gyeonggi province. A 24-hour city, Seoul has an intense work-hard, play-hard culture. The booming metropolis fuses tradition and modernity. At the same time, retail therapy and cutting-edge technology—Wi-Fi even in parks!—reign in Seoul. The city integrates an urban landscape with large green spaces, making it a great destination for nature buffs and city fans. Seoul is experiencing a growing multicultural influence.

The climate of Seoul is considered both humid subtropical and humid continental. Summers are hot and humid and the East Asian monsoon has a strong impact on Seoul's weather from June to July. Winters are usually cold and dry, although the city gets an average of 28 days of snow per year. The average January low temperature for Seoul is 21 degrees F (-6 degrees C) and the average August high temperature is 85 degrees F (29.5 degrees C).

Seongdong-gu is situated on the north bank of the Han River. It borders Yongsan-gu and Jung-gu to the west, Dongdaemun-gu to the North, Gangnam-gu to the South, and Gwangjin-gu to the east IT is very centrally located and easily commutable to almost anywhere you want to go in Seoul.

Seongdong-gu is known for Seoul Forest and Seongsu-dong. Unknown to many foreigners, Seongsu-dong is a trendy neighborhood popular amongst locals. It used to be a thriving district filled with small-scale shoe factories in the late 20th century but has since been redeveloped to include stylish cafes, restaurants, galleries, and shops.  It is often referred to as the Brooklyn of Seoul.

There are five subway lines that run through Seongdong-gu and many transfer stations. There is also an extensive bus network that allows residents easy transportation without a car.
